A Visit To Santa

Our good friend, Kristie's office was having a Christmas party and rumor had it that Santa was going to attend. "Oh boy, Kristie knows Santa" was the talk of our house for a few days and Kristie was a ROCKSTAR! So the day came and we grabbed Kristie and headed over to Bellevue. Every one was so nice and sweet and we sure had a great time. Here's Dylan meeting Olivia. I can just hear her now "Hi Olivia, I'm Dylan Clark. I like your dress."

"Hey Mom, look!".

After a few snacks and Christmas cookies - which reminds me of one of many funny stories from the day. When Dylan walked in she headed straight for the snack table and helped herself to a chocolate cookie with green frosting. She ate most of the cookie and then walked away distracted. A little while later Dylan came back over to the spot and saw a man eating the same kind of cookie and says "mom, oh no, that man is eating my cookie!". I thought the man was going to shoot cookie out of his nose he was laughing so hard. Thank god, no CPR was preformed.

Then came the big moment when Santa arrived! Let's just say up to this point Dylan was quite talkative about Santa and the two of them meeting. Upon his arrival she got a bit quiet and I thought "Uttoh". Santa soon settled into a cushy red chair and called all the kids over (about 25) to come sit around him and his little elf. He then called the first name to come get their present. After the second name was called, Dylan stands up (mind you I'm across the room) and says with her hands on her hips and then up in the air in a questionable position - "Hey Santa, I'm thinking you have a soccer team.". "Do you have a dog? I'm thinking you have 9 of them.". Oh man, classic Dylan, not a dry eye in the house. Then she sits down for a few minutes before standing up again and says "Hey Santa, where are your reindeer?".

Then the big moment - "Dylan" Santa says. She jumps up and runs right up and hops on Santas lap. Santa had done his homework and knew about Dylan's bike race so they talked a little about that. Then Santa asked what she's been into and her response "my little people" - Santa hadn't a clue that she was talking about her Fisher Price Little People so he said "You have your people and I have mine".

She got a little shy at the end but all in all it went well.

Then the next little boy who got called up didn't do so good, so Dylan jumped up for a little moral support.

Towards the end apparently Dylan was still full of questions as she jumped up and said "Hey Santa what are your reindeer's names?". She was now testing him - luckily he named them all. Her response "My dog is named Maggie.".

At the end all the kids opened their presents together - I can't believe Santa got 25 kids to all wait patiently to open their presents but he did. Dylan got a cute little alphabet machine which she thinks is so cool.

Thanks so much Kristie, what a fun time. And yes, Dylan still thinks you are a rockstar - we all do actually!

Happy Christmas And Merry New Year

Oh my gosh Christmas, where do I start there are so many funnies stories! First there was the Christmas tree decorating - at one point Dylan stands back puts her hands over her mouth and says "Ooooooh, it's sooooo beautiful". I'd say the tree has been decorated about 50 times - I think she finally got it right as it's remained the same for a few days now. The tree has now become the home to many Fisher Price Little People. Everyone that comes in the house now has to look at Dylan's Christmas tree and her toddler bed - contractors included. Best of all was Christmas night dinner - we were all gathered around and I asked Dylan what she was thankful for, with out skipping a beat she says "I'm thankful for my ginie" as in v-ginie, south of the boarder - uh, we were all holding back the laughter but tears were streaming down our face. Dylan turns to Auntie Beans and says, "Auntie Beans why are you crying?". Priceless!

So for the few Christmas's Dylan's had in her little life time, all whom are close now the stories of the failed traditional Santa pictures - I've tried, honestly. So it's become a new tradition (and more our style) to come up with more of a comical Santa photo. This year my December quickly started getting away from us as we got tied up with remodel and work. In the back of my mind I was trying to come up with this years theme. It's the first year in many that we were actually staying in Seattle so I wanted to do something to represent our home town. Since I was working Dylan's sitters had all kinds of fun festive activities lined up - one of which Madison took Dylan to the Space Needle. Dylan has been dying for months to go to the Space Needle so it was her lucky day! Apparently they had a blast - Dylan loved the elevator ride and the view from the top deck. When they got back down there was a photo booth set up. When Dylan was asked if she wanted to get her photo taken her response was "I want to do it myself". So she jumped on deck and when the photographer said "put your hands on your hips" she did exactly what she was told but only with a little sass. With each photo you are given a receipt with a code in which you use to go online and select a back drop. The original one the girls selected was a great shot of Seattle. Later when I got home I jumped online and found the Santa option and bingo there was our Christmas card. Thanks for your help Madison - turned out perfect. I then asked Dylan what she wanted to say to everyone and her response "Happy Christmas and Merry New Year". done, it was a wrap.

A Quick Visit With Gma Montana

A few weeks back Gma Montana took a road trip out with a few girlfriends. She was needing a little fix with her Grandkiddos. Oh boy the excitement was in the air for sure, Dylan could not wait for her 'special alone time' with Gma. It was a very busy couple of days, we barely left the house.

Do to the fact that we are in the mist of our basement remodel, our guest suite was out of commission but that wasn't going to slow Gma down from visiting. Matt and I gave Linda our bed and we slept on Dylan's floor, which we didn't mention to d when she went to sleep. Sometime during the night I hear a "mom" and then a lot of laughing as she figured out that her family was all crashed out on her floor. She quickly climbed down to our level and then proceeded to start chatting away. We then rolled her over towards Maggie so that she'd forget about us and chat Maggie's ear off. At some point everyone fell back asleep and we awoke to find Dylan and Maggie all cuddled up together.

After Matt left for work us girls got busy making gingerbread men & squirrel cookies. You could touch, smell, and feel the love in the kitchen that day. Here's the gals having tons of fun. Gma brought Dylan a very sweet little apron that D now insists on wearing every time we start cooking. Linda is probably not too happy with me posting pictures of her in her robe but the two of them were so so so sweet together that morning and I honestly can't tell you who had more fun.

Day two we finally made it out of the house to get some fresh air. It was a beautiful fall day!

First Bike Race

Dylan had her first bike race! And as you can guess L.O.V.E.D. it! It was a beautiful fall day, tons of leaves on the ground, which made it even more beautiful.

Here she is warming up - can't really see but she is allll smiles.

And the line up. I didn't get the shot but I think Matt did - the girl to d's left has a squirrel strapped to the front of her bike - in the shot Dylan's petting the girls squirrel as she's striking up a conversation with the little boy to her right - it was hilarious.

Dylan had a blast racing - she was really fast, passed a few kids and then fell down. She instantly got back up jumped on her bike and passed a few more kids. She had her dad's game face on for sure - it was funny. When crossing the finish line she broke down in tears, when asked what was wrong she said "I want to go again" and she did.

The bar comes down. It was time. Dylan could pretty much climb in and out of her bed for some time now but luckily for some reason she didn't (which was unbelievable by many being the little monkey girl she is). But we hit a period where where she started saying "I don't like my yittle bed". So we decided it was time to take the bar down and give her her toddler bed. She was so excited but when she saw the change she said 'now lift it up dad'. Apparently she had it in her mind that she was getting a bunk bed. Oops!.

Maggie and Pappa Matt did some fast talking and now it's "I love my toddler bed, it's so cozy.". Nice work dad! Thumbs up by all.

But now every night anywhere between 2 and 4 I hear the little patter of feet and then a little voice by my side of the bed saying 'knock, knock' as she's climbing over me - and yes, she really does say 'knock, knock'.

Our friends brought over this Fisher Price house for Dylan. She loves loves loves Fisher Price Little people and already has quite the collection (okay I have quite the collect but she does honestly love them). She will play with them for a hour straight and I love listening to the little conversation she has between the people, cracks me up. So the other day our friend drops this house by while Dylan was napping. You should have seen her face as she walked in the living room and saw it. After playing with it for two minutes she says very loudly "I love my little (which sounds more like yittle) house.". Great gift, thanks Milo!

Chatty Cathy And Other Funny Stories

The other night Dylan was chatting up a storm so I say to her "you sure are a chatty Cathy" and the turns to me and says back "mom, I'm not chatty Cathy, I'm Dylan Clark" like I had completely forgotten her name - ha!

The other night I came home from a day of work, Dylan saw me and started putting on her shoes and coat. When I asked her where she was going she said "I'm going outside to play croquet." As it was dark out I suggested we swing instead. So as miss d was swinging we talked about our days and then she says to me "hey mom, let's have couscous for dinner" and so we did.

I was meeting with our friend Darin the other night (he's helping us with our basement remodel). We were in the basement talking and Dylan was down there running around as we chatted. All of a sudden I heard something that sounded like water and then a toilet seat go down. I looked Darin in the eye and we both started silently cracking up. Dylan, who is potty training, ran over to the toilet in the basement, dropped trough, peed in the pot, and put the seat down all by herself. She then came running over to us yelling "I did it, I did it." so proud. Darin was just about crying as he was laughing so hard - you see the toilet wasn't installed and I didn't have the heart to tell her not to use it. And the funny thing is that she's gone in that toilet now three other times all by herself - guess we best be getting that thing installed here soon!

The other day after Little Gym we headed to the coffee shop for a 'special treat'. Dylan got her whoopie pie, I got my coffee, and we grabbed a doggie treat for Maggie which Dylan put in the pocket of her new cute little rain coat. We got home and first thing d did was give Maggie her treat and put her coat in her room (good girl!). Later that day Dylan says "mom, Maggie is scratching at my jacket". When I walked into Dylan's room I saw Dylan's coat had been ripped up, apparently Maggie could still smell the cookie in the pocket. Dylan saw the coat and said "uttoh mom, Maggie ripped my jacket. I need a doctor but I don't have a car." So the next day we took d's coat to the jacket doctor and no, I didn't give her the car.

Shortly after the 'jacket doctor' incident Matt had a bike race. He called after the race to say that he was going to be a little later getting home as he had to 'stop by the hospital to get a few stitches'. When I got off the phone Dylan says to me "what's wrong with dad? Did he tear himself? He needs to go see the jacket doctor. Mom call his friends he needs help.".

The other morning I asked Dylan if she wanted hot chocolate she said 'no mom, i'm going to have coffee, i have it all the time.".

Later I said it was time to get dressed, d turned and said "mom, I need some special alone time to play you a beautiful song.". How could you argue with that!

Today at the library we were looking through the videos for Bob the Builder - her new favorite - think she's getting tips on how to help her dad in the basement. After looking we didn't see any, next thing I new Dylan walked right over to the Librarian counter and asked her "excuse me, do you have any Bob the Builder video's" - such a big girl!

And these are just a few of the funny things pouring out of miss Dylan's mouth... she is a crack up or what she would say 'a goof ball'.

Happy Birthday Momma

I had a fabulous birthday this year. All started with a cupcake and a song by a couple of my favorite people....

And then as a surprise birthday get away, my lovely husband packed up our trailer and we headed out - yup, just the two of us! Auntie Beans came over to watch Dylan and we were on our way! It was heaven!!!! And my fabulous husband thought of everything down to the seared ahi!

Then it was a weekend with Dad as Momma went away with her girlfriends. Hardware store, bike races, movies, oh boy! Fun times.

Greeting from a space girl.....

It was an action packed extendo Halloween celebration over here at the Clark house. First off there was the costume party at Little Gym that Madison took Dylan to, then there was our neighbor Lil' Sam's birthday party followed by Trick or Treating up on California Street - where Dylan met Pooh.

Oh it was love at first sight! Then she took off running down the street to trick or treat. It was a beautiful day, which made for TONS of kiddos out and about. Dylan would spot different costumes and say 'hey momma, look a pirate, arrrrgh!', it was very funny.

Auntie Beans met up with us to help tag team the event - and thank goodness as it was a mad house! Jill's comment, which I loved, "thank goodness you dress her in something bright". We took her from store to store, some of the stores you had to actually go into which was a drag as being so small Dylan would push her way in, take 5 minutes (yes, 5 minutes) picking out just the right bite size piece of candy, giving me enough time to get into the store to round her up and shoo her out the door where Auntie Beans caught her at the other end - not sure what I would have done with out her! Dylan had a blast! So you could only imagine how excited she was to get dressed up all over again and hit the Halloween event on admiral Halloween afternoon. Here's a few videos. At the neighborhood bike shop they had a big old spider that would come down from the ceiling. At one point Dylan says she's scared as she's going back in to investigate. We were there for 15 minutes, the whole time Dylan yelling 'more, more, more. hey, come pet the spider'. The other video is of her again running down the street! Thank goodness Auntie Beans joined us again! At our last stop they had a free photo booth. The witch handing out candy asked Dylan if she wanted to get her picture taken, so we went in to take a look. The photographer asked d if she wanted to get her picture taken and very loudly she said 'no thanks, i've got to go.' Everyone had tears of laughter. As we hit the front door she changed her mind and actually really got into it, hence the first photo on the post.

Later that night I draped Dylan and Maggie with glow sticks to really go with the space theme. They looked great. When Matt got home from work we all headed out. Apparently Dylan thought that after you said 'trick or treat' to the neighbors they should let you into their home so you could check out EVERYTHING. After the 3rd neighbors house this happened at I took the dog home to pass out candy and let Matt handle the rest of the treating. HA! They didn't make it too far.

Oh The Fun That Was Had

...today while Momma was away. Madison and Dylan bought some face paints and went to town. Is that my daughter or do we now own a kitty? Ha! They had a great time and I got a good laugh! That Madison is always thinking of the best stuff to do! The other day I asked Dylan "What do you want to do today with Madison?" and all on her own she says "Go shopping and get my nails done". Talk about a good laugh!!!!

Bikes, Cousin Jackie, Goats, Chickens, A Pony Ride, And G-Ma Montana

A few weeks ago we headed out to Aunt Liz & Uncle Ben's farm. It was a beautiful summer day and Dylan was very excited to see her cousin Jackson aka "Jackie" and her G-ma Montana (who was visiting). Cousin Jackson has been racing BMX and was showing us some of his moves which of course inspired little missy to show us some of her moves.

Here she is looking very tough with her big helmet and tattoos.

Of course Dad joined in on the fun, which Dylan (and Jackson) were thrilled about.

Then someone got a little tired and tipped over on her bike.

Funny thing was that her helmet was so big that it made for a perfect head rest. If you look closely she's actually playing in the dirt.

Then we were off to check out the goats and chickens. All was grand until d touched the electric fence - ooops!

THEN... Auntie Liz brought out the pony! Oh boy!!!! Cousin Jackson showed Dylan how to brush and get the pony ready for riding. He even jumped on and showed us some of his moves that he learned at horse camp and of course from his mom. Then it was Dylan's turn. Well i guess her big grin from ear to ear tells it all! She LOVED IT! and the fact that G-ma was right by her side. Aunt Liz totally made her day bringing Dewy Pony out - thanks Aunt Liz!

We have a bunch more photos from the day on another camera which we'll get downloaded here one of these days. After the pony ride there was a big old water fight with Dad, Jackson, and Dylan, which was a hoot!

The other morning she invited her Dad in for a visit. I have a feeling she might be doing a little remodeling herself.

G-Ma, G-Pa, And Kajlie Visit

Just found these on Matt's phone, they are from a few months back when G-Ma Montana, G-Pa Phil, and Phil's Granddaughter, Kajlie came for a visit. Oh boy did Dylan have fun or what! She had G-Pa Phil chasing her for hours outside. "Catch me Gandpa, Catch me".

The there was a few hours of hide-and-seek.

Then they both got hungry so Dylan fixed up some grub on her bbq. Hope you like rock potatoes G-pa Phil!

Then Grandma Montana stepped in to give G-pa Phil a breather. Dylan told G-ma to come on in her playhouse and have a seat.

The shared a cup of coffee.

Guess Dylan got the slug at the bottom (her dad likes to make it really strong).

They smelled flowers.

Oh and then G-pa Phil was back in action - "Push me Gandpa, Push me".

This went on for a few more hours.

Then it was story time and the crew all squeezed in on the couch with blanket (Dylan insisted on both) to enjoy a few stories together before going to bed. Not sure which of then passed out first as all their eyes seemed pretty heavy. Dylan just loved her company, you can just see her beaming up at her G-pa here.

It was a short (much too short if you ask me) and sweet visit. Dylan keeps asking when her G-ma and G-pa AND Kajlie are all coming back. Apparently, as she told me in the car the other day, next time they all come to visit they are going up in the Space Needle. Always great to see you Phil and Linda! And great to have you out Kajlie!

Broken

We are in the beginning phases of potty training. Every night after bath I let Dylan streak around the house until she has to go pee. She then runs into the bathroom, sits her little bum down on her potty, and makes pee in the pot. She gets sooo excited jumping up and down yelling "I did it, I did it, candy, candy". I've been using candy as a little incentive which has been helping. My sister was trained as a kid with the water running which to this day when she hears running water she runs for a toilet. So I thought maybe I should stay clear of that method but now I'm thinking Dylan will be 16, pee, and then think 'hum, I suddenly want candy'.

So the other night I ask Dylan if she needs to make pee-pee in the pot. She runs to her little potty, sits down, and makes the funniest little pushing face. Oh she pushes and pushes. She then jumps up and says "Uttoh Momma, broken, not working" as in her plumbing is broken because nothing is coming out. Oh I had a good laugh over that one. She then climbs up on "Momma's potty" to try it out, thinking it was the potty and not her. She gave it a good try again and then strugs her shoulders and says 'broken'.

A few weeks ago we did a quite whirlwind trip to Missoula for Cousin Sam & Brittney's wedding. It was a fast trip but super fun. She actually does better counting to 10 in spanish - that she will say all the numbers.

Holy Crap - Momma Has A Heart Attack

A few weeks back Matt left town for a shoot. Dylan and I were having a quiet Sunday morning at home. I was doing something on my computer in the kitchen and she was playing with our giant yoga ball. Somehow she's gotten the yoga ball out the back door and I look up to see her little feet going up and over the yoga ball, heading down 7 huge concrete steps. I was like 'Holy S*%t!' and made a run for the back door just in time to see her land face and chest first on the middle step and do a roll over the next couple landing on her back at the bottom. I was in a total panic as I didn't know if I could move her, or what to do. Dylan looked at me, put her arms up, and started crying - not a hurt cry, more of a scared cry. I hugged her and carried her inside, gave her chew chew (her pacifier), as that is what she wanted. I got her to move around a little to make sure she didn't break anything. After calming her down I got on the phone with our 24 hour nurse and explained what happened. She asked several questions and then asked 'what is she doing right now' and I was like 'well, actually she's jumping on the couch', the nurse was like 'I think she's going to be okay but you will have to wake her every 2 hours and watch for these signs....'. I got off the phone and balled, I was soooo frightened and of course, felt like a horrible Mom. Dylan, who was perfectly fine, took on look at me crying and gave me a hug and said 'Momma okay?' - that's just the kind of girl she is. We took it easy for the rest of the day. That night was a little rough as like I said Matt was out of town and I had to keep waking her up every few hours. When I'd close my eyes to go back to sleep I'd have the image of her little feet rolling over the yoga ball all over again and feel sick to my stomach. Thank God these little people are made of rubber because if I took the same fall I'd be in the hospital for a week! The whole thing still sends chills down my spine.

A few weeks ago the Haugens (our friends from Whitefish) were in town for a visit so we all got together at the Rundles' new awesome house on the Eastside. As Dylan and I were crossing over the West Seattle Bridge to get to the highway she points up the street and says "Auntie Beans house, Momma" - she's got that one figured out!

We got to the Rundles house, Dylan walks in the front door and yells "my friends, my friends, where are my friends?". She was soon greeted with a big group in which she turned and said 'catch me' and took off. Let's just say we finally found her later that night huddled around the t.v. shoving skillets down her throat, eyes a little buggy from being so tired, and shoes missing - guess it was safe to say she had a good time (and we found the shoes finally!).

"Climb Mountain" - A Family Camp-out

About a month ago we took a quick little family camp trip with the trailer. We found a great spot up the Teanaway River - a favorite spot of mine. We arrived Friday evening just in time to set up camp, make a little dinner, and hit the hay. The next morning after breakfast we opened up the door to the trailer, Dylan looked around, pointed to the mountain just in front of us and says "climb mountain, please". I was like "sure baby your dad will take you" and then I laughed as it was quite a mountain - oh how she has her dad ambition! We talked her into go for a hike and seeing the horses instead, which she loved. (At the end of the road is a horse camp). It was a fast fun weekend and Dylan loved the camp fire and playing in the cold creek (which she stayed in for 40 minutes!). She also loved going for a bike ride with her dad (she's gotten quite good at riding her bike).

Here's some pictures from our 'Maiden Voyage' Montana trip (see previous post). These are of our Whitefish chapter (mid-trip). Matt's family has a vacant lot up on Big Mountain right under chairlift 3. It was the perfect place for our first few nights in the Silver Streak! As you can see from the pictures there were still some patches of snow on the slopes. Miss Dylan was in all her glory running around, jumping in the snow, playing in the creeks, and here playing with Elise & Chase Sabin! The Sabins joined us for an evening and the kids had a grand time.

All cleaned up and time for a quick story before someone was out like a light! And speaking of lights, later in the night we were awoken by a big electrical storm. Both Matt and I had the same thought "uh here we are in a tin box up on top of a mountain and there's lightening all around us!" Now I love a good electrical storm but that one was a little hairy.

The next morning we made breakfast and then got ready for a hike to Murray Lake - where Matt & I got married.

Maiden Voyage

Awe, the maiden voyage of our '66 Silver Streak trailer! I was a little exhausted from just getting back into town from work AND then packing up our basement & demoing it - as we're getting ready to finally finish it off. But I found the energy to get packed up again but this time for a little family time fun. We aimed to get out of town first thing Friday morning but anyone with kids knows that our first thing departure turned out to be leaving Seattle at 4pm.

Smoothie in hand we were off and heading down the highway.

Three minutes later a couple of girls fell fast asleep.

We drove past dark and then decided to get a hotel outside of Spokane. Okay I know what you're asking "why are they getting a hotel when they are towing their trailer?" Seems funny, I know but it was loaded with bikes and gear AND since we hadn't actually used it we wanted to set it up during daylight hours - AND due to the fact we didn't get out of town until 4 we opted to drive past dark.

So there is a little missy that LOVES hotel rooms. A funny thing about her is that she can't sleep until she has fully fung shui'd each room she stays in. This one had a little kitchen so of course we had to check it all out at 11 o'clock at night.

The next morning we packed up and hit the road to Missoula, our first stop. Matt was shooting a video for Camp Mak-a-Dream so while he worked for the next few days Dylan and I hung out with our cousins Polly, Rob, Lydia, Liam, & Henry (who is doing fabulous for all those who know his miracle story). The cousins had a hay-day and Polly and I got to do some catching up.

Here's Henry feeding Dylan his lunch. They were the perfect match as he loves to feed people and Dylan loves to eat. She ate his whole bowl of cereal and he was in heaven that he got to feed it to her.

That evening Auntie Beans and Daryl came to town for a night. They joined right in and were the guest readers at story time.

The next morning it was kiddo pile up in Liam's crib.

Then we all headed to the merry-go-round. Auntie Beans stepped up to be the lucky one to ride with miss d.

Oh and this picture - ha! funny story. We headed to Aunt Linda & Uncle Chucks for a family BBQ. Right before we were leaving Maggie goes to the water bowl and gets a drink. Well Dylan watched and then marched right over for a drink herself - guess she was thirsty! I had to get a picture so being the bad mom I am I coxed her to have another go at the bowl and I got my picture. I think it grossed out Aunt Linda a bit but I thought it was funny.

The next day it was back on the swing set.

Then Polly and I took the girls to a fun nearby park for the afternoon.

Before pulling out of Missoula we of course had to make a pit stop at The Big Dipper for a cone.

After Missoula we headed to Whitefish - pictures & stories to come in next post. After Whitefish we headed over to a KOA in Dillon for our annual bike ride RATPOD. It was so fun (never thought I'd be saying it was fun to stay at a KOA but it was great). There were about 8 families all camped out that we knew. There was a park and a swimming pool - so let's just say we didn't see Dylan for most of the stay except this rare moment where the gang came to our place for hot chocolate. Dylan had a blast playing with all the kids. So much that at one point she was returned with poop up her back - she was having so much fun that she didn't tell anyone that she pooped and with all the swinging and sliding it crept up her back further and further - it was the worst I've ever seen. That night at 11pm when we were still up trying to get ready for our ride the next morning Dylan flings open the trailer door and yells "hey kids, come play with me".

One morning Matt made pancakes and the word on the camp grounds got out "pancakes at the Clark's". We got all kinds of visitors - here's a picture of G-ma Montana and Chase Sabin enjoying some cakes and Maggie dog enjoying some sunshine and all the pats on the head from those passing by.

This entry is a dedication to Madison. Oh how we would be lost without her! It's hard to know exactly what to call her - friend, babysitter, nanny, playmate.... The list is long but what I do know for sure is that she is AMAZING! Every time I come home not only is our house is covered in art project and fun activities that she's come up with to entertain Miss d, the house is clean, dishes are done, Dylan has learned where she lives, her age, name, to count and other things in many different languages, there are new songs, dances, oh the list goes on and on. And best of all at the end of the day/night there is always a cute little detailed note of what they did everyday with a little titled piece of art on it. I save every sheet and add it to Dylan book so she'll know the amazing influence she had. Time to time Madison talks about going back to L.A. - oh how I dread the day!!!!! She had not only been a huge lifesaver - I know whenever I leave for a day, a night, a week that Madison has it covered, no problem! So we wanted to give a shout out to Madison and let her know how much we love, appreciate, respect, and NEED her to stick around! Plus she's sweet (and funny) to have around. AND Dylan "Madison's girl" just adores her. Thanks Madison!!!! You are the best and we'll be lost without you!!!

The New Playhouse

Someone's got a new playhouse!!!!! And someone's super excited about it. Don't worry I let Dylan play in it sometimes ;)

Our friend Nan was at Costco a few months back and texted me pictures of this super cute playhouse. It took a few weeks before Dylan and I could get down there to check it out - turns out we were just in time as the one on display was the last one in stock. Luckily I still have connections at Costco so I asked if they ever sell their displays - score! Not only did I get it reduced a hundred bucks (it was already really reasonably priced), I sweet talked the guys into disassembling it so I could get it in the car. I got it home and Matt put it together while Dylan was napping - when she got up Oh My Gosh!!!! You could only imagine the yells and screams of delight. I was off to prep for a shoot but apparently Matt and d played in the playhouse for the next 3 hours! Unheard of in the world of a 2 year old.

This past weekend Matt built a platform and little patio for Miss d's playhouse - he did a great job! Our neighbors cleaned out their daughter's playhouse and gave Dylan tons of little dishes, pots, pans, and play veggies, along with a little table and chair set. There was some major fung shui going on in the little playhouse - chairs in and out until she got it just right. Now Dylan is cooking, cleaning, and hosting up a storm in her little playhouse!

The other morning Dylan woke up and I asked 'what would you like for breakfast?' her response 'sushi'! I had to laugh. We didn't make it for breakfast, as I'm not sure there is a sushi brunch option - maybe? But we did hit it up for dinner. Dylan loved picking out her own sushi. She also has gotten pretty darn good with a pair of chopsticks - even attempted to eat her dessert with them - that started moving to slow so she switched to a spoon mighty quick.

A Trip To Ashland

I was just down in Ashland, Or for 3 1/2 weeks working. I always love going down there, such a great town. I flew down every Sunday afternoon, work for the week, and then come back late Friday night - one weekend Matt decided to bring the family to me. He was very brave driving the 8 hours each way with a toddler by himself but then again she is a fabulous traveler.

We had a great weekend together that went by way too fast. Here's Dylan enjoying some local music and treats.

Oh Benny!

Dylan's got a new little friend! His name is Benny and they are joined at the hip! We met Benny and his mom, Magdalena, at Little Gym and they are both great. Whenever the kids are in class together that is all that matters - they run, chase, and tickle each other through out the hour. Here's a few pictures of our little play date we had a few weeks back. We hit up a fun little park near our house which had a field of flowers - the kids kept picking flowers and giving them to each other - very sweet!

A Super Fun Visit With Auntie Doris 2011

Back in April we had a fabulous visit from Great Auntie Doris!!!! The weather was great and we had tons of fun! One day we hit up Westwood Village to do a little shopping. We were at Target and Dylan was getting a little antsy so Doris handed her this kitty cat toy piano with microphone. I laugh even thinking back on it. Dylan got the music cranking and then started singing in the microphone throughout the store and wouldn't let up. It was her mission to make sure every shopper was fully entertained during their Target shopping experience. She was so funny that we just couldn't leave the store without it - thanks Auntie D! But wait the story doesn't end there. We get the kitty piano home and Dylan rocks out for a while and then wonders off. Doris and I are sitting talking when all of a sudden we hear this low rumbling noice and then a meow. We both look at each other like 'what the heck?' and bust out laughing. Turns out the piano has a reminder mode to let you know it's still on.

Over the weekend we took full advantage of the beautiful weather and hopped on a ferry to Vashon Island for a picnic on the beach. We found some beach treasures....

Oh then there was Lil' Chef's with our BFF's Milo, Gia, and "Momma G" as Dylan calls Shannon. I'm not sure who had more fun, Doris or Dylan.... Afterwards the kiddos had a great time on the little playground chasing each other. It was a great time!

Oh and then Little Gym - Dylan's all time favorite! She had quite the troop with her that day - Auntie D, Auntie Beans, and Mom! And let's just say miss D ran around making sure we were all watching her! Little monkey.

Bubbles! Auntie Doris brought Dylan this awesome giant bubble blowing kit. I'm only sorry I didn't get a picture of the two of them out back. They were out there for hours together blowing, chasing, screaming, and having a hoot of a time.

Nothing better than a family meal. Auntie Beans and Daryl came to join us for homemade pasta, Salmon, Asparagus, special PDX wine from Philly,....

AND homemade squirrel pie! (okay it was really apple~ginger).

Then it was off to the zooooooo!

Dylan was flipping out watching the penguins swimming around.

Our last day of Auntie Doris's trip the girls all piled in the car and drop up north to the Tulip Festival. It was beautiful! So many colors!

A super packed action week of fun! And the best part for me was Momma's & Auntie D's spa fun day on the town! Thanks for everything Auntie D, always great having you around. We love you tons!

Things not to do at Easter time - plant new grass, doesn't make for good egg hiding when your backyard is completely covered in dirt! We didn't really think it through when we decided to plant new grass, then the rains came. So Easter night I ran around the house during bath time and hid eggs in the house. Life sure is great when you're 2 and don't know any better! And let's hope Dylan found all the eggs ;)>.....

Lil' Chefs Cooking School

Lil' Chefs. Oh it's as cute as it sounds. Imagine 12 toddlers all sitting around a kitchen counter listening to teacher Denise talk about kitchen rules and cooking up a storm. First day the little ones made english muffin pizzas and cut up their own fruit salads (with plastic knives). Dylan had a blast. We're taking the class with our good friends Miles, Gia, and Momma G (Dylan's nickname for Shannon). It was a hoot and Dylan was in her cooking glory.

Taco Bar

Uh believe me this kid has a home. Honestly she hasn't been living on the streets begging for change. This face is the result of taco bar night - a tradition I've carried on from my childhood. While growing up my dad and I shared a common bond over taco bar night - we loved it! All the toppings would be put in bowls on a lazy susan (okay we don't have the lazy susan but we do have taco stands) in the middle of the table and my dad and I would build taco after taco after taco. It was so much fun and sooooo good. My dad, like a jedi master, schooled me on how to build a taco correctly - we're talking hard shell tacos here. Since my dad isn't here to school the new crew I've taken on the jedi master role and have had to do some hard core taco building training ;)>. So now my family LOVES taco bar night as you can see from the picture above.

A friend of ours gave D these wooden dress up dolls called Woodkins. It's a flat wooden doll and you dress it using fabric swatches. You then close the lid and it makes an outfit. Very simple and very cleaver. Dylan loves coming up with different outfits and she then comes running to show you each one. Hours of entertainment.

Oh 2 ~ can you believe it? Honestly it blows my mind. Every day there is something new like the other morning she woke up and out of the blue started calling me 'mommy' - it's been momma up to this point. Cracked me up. Or after watching Elmo she now refers to herself in the third person, 'd help', 'd's turn', 'd cupcake please'. Or after hearing Maggie cough she runs up to her, pats her head and asks 'Maggie okay?' in the most caring way. The other day she says to me 'try it momma you'll like it'. Oh the list can go on. Her verbal skills get better and better every day, she's becoming quite the little parrot that's for sure. Dylan has turned into a little person and is so fun to be around - we love her madly!

For Dylan's 2 year check up she weighted in at 30 lbs - 85.55%, her height was 36" - 94.17% (very tall for her age), and her head is 19" - 76.63% (takes after her dad in that area). All was good with the doctor's visit and Dylan is on course if not ahead of it. Nice work D!

A few weeks back our good friends Jeremy & Damiana came over for brunch and brought over their cutest little guy, Brooks. Oh was Dylan in heaven (okay, I'll admit it I was too)!!!! It was true love between the two as you can see from the pictures below. Snuggles, kisses, and a head lock hug - sorry Brooks. It was great to hang out and catch up! Damiana has been and apparently still is (although I don't know how she finds the time) one of our biggest blog followers. So we're giving a shout out to her - nice work momma, baby Brooks is a gem!!!

The Little Blue Car

Our friends Jan & Ted were doing a little spring cleaning the other day and called to say that their son, Milo was done with his little blue car. Well little did they know that EVERY time we go to the little neighborhood park Dylan beam lines straight to the little cars they have there AND she gets really upset if there is another kid using it. SOOOO to find out that she could have her very own little blue car oh you should have seen the smiles. Every time we come home from somewhere and walk through the back gate it's 'Momma blue car, d play blue car'. She loves it! Thanks Milo!!!!!

Big Chocolate Cake

That was Dylan's first three word sentence 'big chocolate cake'. When ever we asked her 'what do you want for your birthday d?' she'd come back with 'big chocolate cake' (a girl after my own heart).

We went back and forth about what to do for the big 2 year celebration but couldn't really decide so we ended up having a very mellow little family thing at the house - I say mellow but Dylan just loves her 7 year old cousin and ran around chasing him yelling 'Jackie, Jackie, Jackie' so i use the term 'mellow' loosely.

We cooked up some very yummy pizza's for dinner. Auntie Beans & Daryl joined the fun along with cousin Jackson aka 'Jackie', Uncle Ben & Aunt Liz. After dinner it was time for 'big chocolate cake'. Here's a picture of Dylan waiting for her 'big chocolate cake' to arrive - as you can see she was very excited.

Someone distracted her while Momma C and Auntie Beans brought the cake in.

Oh boy, not only is it a 'big chocolate cake' but a 'big chocolate monkey ice cream cake' - which became her first 6 word sentence. And let me tell you, someone was in heaven.

First Bike

What can I say but our girl is following in her Dad's footsteps, she loves bikes! So for Dylan's 2nd birthday we got her a balance bike (basically a bike without pedals or training wheels. The theory is that they learn balance and then to pedal later). Of course her Dad picked out a super cool preemo ride and her Mom picked the color ;).

The day it arrived Matt happen to be home for lunch. I couldn't tell which of the two was more excited to get the bike together. The box was torn open within seconds and parts were coming out - Matt said to Dylan "I have to go to the garage to get a few tools" the next thing we knew Dylan had run in the house and brought out not only one but two of her tool boxes to help her Dad. She was very excited to help!

"Hey Dad, I think this piece goes with this one what do you think?"

"Hmmm, let me adjust my glasses so I can see the directions better."

"Hey Dad I have just the tool for this and hey Dad look I've got tool skills too!"

After a quick seat adjustment Dylan was all set for her first ride. She was good in knowing that you ALWAYS wear your helmet when riding your bike.

She got on just like a pro! Oh and for the record the one pant leg up and sunglasses where her idea - ha!

This picture cracked me up. It made me realize how old miss d is getting. We were in the car rocking out to Caspar Babypants having a great time - oh we were rock stars for sure. Here's Dylan after the rock party just hanging out in her carseat looking out the window. I loved that her leg is hanging over the side and she was playing with her hair. Every once in a while I get glimpses of what it will be like when she's a teen.

Super Fun Family Snow Day

Last weekend we took a little trip up to the pass to do a little sledding and snowshoeing. It was a nice day all around.

G-ma Montana made some playdough. We found all kinds of kitchen gadgets to help sculp, mold, mound, cut, and squeeze. The girls had lots of fun. Dylan made an ice cream cone which she proceeded to lick and laugh when we said eeewww!

All Sacked Out

Here's the crew all sacked out downstairs. Oh the girls were in heaven all cuddled up with G-ma. Matt and I were meeting with a friend and realized it had gotten late. We went downstairs to check on the crew and found this - every one asleep - good job G-ma! Hope we didn't wear you out too much!

G-ma Montana And The Children's Museum

What a fun day we had at the Children's Museum showing G-ma Montana all around. First was the playdough.

Then painting. Dylan made her first painting!

Then we went over to the International living section. Dylan was right at home in the kitchen.

Sushi soup - oh yum - not!

Then we were off to the big climbing tree to explore bugs, trees, the camping tent & slide...

Then we ran through the reading room - no time for books today, there is too much to do.

Then a visit to the tool department. Of course we had to get in full costume to play in this department.
G-ma teaching Dylan all about nuts and bolts.

Well then we got hungry to we went to the taco making exhibit for some fake tacos.

After our fake taco lunch we went grocery shopping. Dylan loves this exhibit most of all (and I think her mom does as well).

Dylan loves the bread section. I think especially just being in Paris.

She loaded up her cart with all kinds of breads and pastries - all fake thank goodness!

Carts all full now it's time to check out - hope you brought your wallet Dylan.

Farmer's Market

Here's some shots from our visit to our local farmer's market. We love going up there on Sunday mornings and checking out all the goods - it's just up the street so really easy to walk to. And Dylan loves all the free samples (and people watching of course).

Pizza Making With Dad

During G-ma Montana's visit Matt and Dylan decided to make everyone pizza. Dylan loves to drag her little chair to the counter and help (or help herself) :)>.

First the sauce.

Then the olives - and yes a few go the mouth.

Finally the cheese - and yes that too went in the mouth.

Whallah! The pizza is done! And it was quite tasty!
