Berlin Was A Blur

On our way to Berlin we stayed the night in a funny hotel which seemed to be in the parking lot of Ikea, which made us laugh. After our first few days in Brussels we were all feeling like we were over the jet lag and getting back to ourselves. Well come night number 4 miss d was up at 3am ready to party like a rock star, running all around the hotel room, and screaming because she wanted to watch Curious George. So after a few hours of George she finally fell asleep and of course was the last one up!

We arrived in Berlin late afternoon. After finding our flat and chatting with our flatmate (who funny enough had lived in Seattle for a bit) we all headed to a local pizza joint with our new friend. It was a great little neighborhood spot which was filled with locals. Dylan soon blended in and was off playing with her new friends. At one point Dylan was sitting at another family's table on the mom's lap coloring. We offered to take our kid back but no such luck they were all having too much fun and the family was happy to have her which meant this mom and dad could actually eat their dinner! It was awesome and Dylan had tons of fun.

Night number 5 ended up being as bad if not worst than night number 4, this time we were in someone's flat which made it a little more stressful. Here's Miss D up at 2am wanting to explore and go see our flatmate, Debbie's, me-me kitty. As you can see she's wide awake!

Here's D and Auntie Beans getting ready for our day in Berlin. Let's just say we got a bit of a late start that morning after being up most of the night.

Matt took us to a really fun Christmas market. At least I think it was fun - we were all sooo tired.

Dylan loved running around the market and playing in the snow. She even stopped and danced for a bit - there was a guy playing Christmas music. We sipped on gluvine and hot chocolate to stay warm - as it was COLD!

Here's Dylan version of Rocky - she climbed to the top of these steps as was soooo proud. She yelled down to her dad, who took the picture - don't worry I was standing right behind the pillar up top.

Here's another very lazy morning after yet another restless night!

At least someone was looking cute that morning!

A very sleepy mom and dad! Auntie Beans whipped up a great European breakfast with good strong coffee!

All bundled up and ready for another day of fun in the snow.

Here we are at Check Point Charlie. Dylan loved watching workers shoveling snow into a big truck - she kept yelling 'snow, snow!'.

A very cold Auntie Beans.

Awe, Dylan most favorite thing during the entire trip was the 'Chou-Chou'. She loved, loved, loved all the subways and trains we took - screaming with delight watching them come and go.

Sleep - FINALLY! And she was out cold!

Dylan was in heaven when we found an outside playground. Poor girl, not really having any toys to play with - so you could imagine the joy to be had here at the playground. Auntie Beans was very patient with us as she was freezing. Funny traveling with a toddler, you can't really duck into coffee shops to sit and warm up.

We were able to get in one museum tag teaming with miss d. Matt had some work to do one afternoon so Auntie Beans and I were able to get out for another cup of gluvine, some roasted chestnuts, and a surrealist art exhibit.

Berlin was great to see but honestly I felt like we didn't really get to see much as it was all a blur. With Dylan's restless nights most nights we hunkered down early in our flat and with our late morning we only got out for a bit before having to get back for naptime! We were in Berlin for four nights (I forget at this point) before heading back to Belgium. Next stop Brugge.
