Yogurt Painting - A New Look And Taste To Junk Mail

How to improve the look (and taste) of junk mail...

First step - look really cute in pigtails and Flashdance ensemble - check!

Second step - take morning yogurt and smear all over junk mail flyer - check!

Third step - lick off and go back to step one!

Then just give your Mom a great big cute smile when she sees the huge mess she gets to clean up.  "Don't worry Mom, you can lick it clean!"  It's a good thing I love you Asa Bean

D's Performance Team Show

Tonight was Dylan's "Performance Team" Performance at school.  Her talent was Hula Hooping - or as she calls it Hulie Hooping.  She is a natural performer so you can only imagine how much she loved performing in front of the school!  Look at her go - four hoops and all!

To The Moon And Back

If Dylan's wondering where all her underwear is please tell her they all went to the moon and back this afternoon.  Uh, not my idea FYI.

Kiki's Delivery Service

Anyone seen Kiki's Delivery Service?  A super cute film if you haven't, which we have 6 times since receiving it - come on over, we're happy to watch it again.  So today Asa grabs the broom from the garage, jumps on and starts running up and down the alley yelling "Kiki, Kiki".  At one point even starts reaching out to me as if wanting me to give her a package to deliver.

Oh and the outfit (stripes, flowers, butterflies, and turquoise shoes), Asa's idea.

'Tis Ski Season

Today we dusted off the ski's and headed up to Snoqualmie Pass.  Here's little Bean on her first pair of ski's (the same ones Cousin Jackson and Dylan wore).  She was excited to put them on right out of the car.

And here's Miss D snowbunny in this years snow gear hitting the slopes like an ol' pro - a big smile on her face the whole time!  Right out of the gate Dylan and Matt hit the chairlift.  Oh little Bean didn't like that at all - first she got mad that SHE didn't get any poles so you could only imagine what happened when seeing dad and big sis riding away in a chairlift!  Boots, gloves, and hat all came flying off in a big ol' hissy fit.  So after a few runs Dylan and Matt took Asa up the Magic Carpet and all was well again.

Not bad for a first day up!  Dylan's suppose to start lessons next week but since there's not much snow we can only keep our fingers crossed!

Family Bowling Night With The Clark's (The Other Clark's)

To celebrate the New Year with The Clark's (the other Clark's) we decided to go bowling!  Not sure if the girls were more excited about actually bowling or getting new shoes to wear.  And who knew they made shoes Asa's size!

Here's Aunt Liz getting a high five from Jackson.

And Uncle Ben showing us his fancy bowling skills.

Asa is taking it all in for her game with Uncle Ben.  And look at those little bowling shoes!  How cute are they!!!

Asa's turn!  They have these fun little bowling racks for the little kiddo's to use.  Asa wasn't so sure about it all at first but then quickly got the hang of it especially with big sis showing her.

Okay so is it bad when your 2 year old scores better than you?  Yes, I came in last place - heck someone had to do it!

D's First Public Art Show At The West Seattle Library

Dylan has sooo patiently waited her turn to showcase her work at the West Seattle Library.  About 9 months ago she, totally on her own, went up to the librarian and asked "Excuse me, can I please put my name on the list for the display case?  I would like to show my art."  So the Librarian ever so kindly added her name to the long list and asked her what her idea is to show.  "I would like to show girls that they can build Lego's too."  And low in behold after 9 months and a call to say it was finally our turn D stuck to her game plan.

Artist statement:
Hello, my name is Dylan.  I’m 5 ¾ years old and I LOVE the West Seattle Library!  I’m proud to present “Create, Build, & Friendship” as my art show which I’ve made out of Legos. I’ve been playing with Legos since I was a little girl.  My inspiration was to show girls that they can build and play with Legos too ~ they aren’t just for boys.  My little sister, Asa (2yrs) built a wall of Duplo Lego’s to show Toddlers they can play as well!  Thank you for taking the time to look at my art exhibit ~ I hope you enjoy it!
~Dylan Ray Nicole Clark

Dylan's first public art show now showing at the West Seattle Library through January 16th.  "Create, Build, and Friendship" is the name of her installation.  Stop by and take a look if you're in the neighborhood.

Oh God?!

Yesterday Dylan had her good friend, Avery over for a playdate.  After hours of playing it was time to take Avery home.  The two girls were in the "back back" (as Dylan calls our 3rd row) singing "Starships" like a couple of teenagers when Dylan asks “Mom, how did the very first person get on the earth?”  I’m like “uh…. how do you think?” (really thinking where the heck did this come from? and how do I answer this one!)  “God, put the first person on the earth” D says very proudly and matter a factly.  Then launches into telling Avery “first it was God, then cave people, then dinosaurs…. and did you know New York was the very first city in the United States, then Seattle.  and at one point New York and Seattle were in a war but they worked it out and became friends.  It’s true.  I know all this because my friend Lila told me and she knows this for real.”  - I’m officially stupid, perhaps I should just throw in the towel now - or perhaps talk to Lila more as apparently she “knows everything but not as much as Genya (dylan’s teacher)” to quote Dylan.  Then D says “Hey Mom, turn up the stereo.  Avery this is the Dino 5, they play hip-hop - do you know the Dino 5?”  Avery says “No but I need to have it."

Friday Harbor Round House

This year we had a little time between Christmas and New Years so we decided to hightail it out of town.  Matt and I sat on the couch for a few nights trying to figure out where we should go.  After checking the "kid filter" on VBRO our choices were narrowed down quite a bit.  Then out of those choice finding a place without stairs or a lot of chotchkies really really narrowed it down.  I kept coming back to this one 'round' house on Friday Harbor.  It was a bit pricey but I thought, what the heck!  Well it turned out to be the most perfect heavenly house ever!!!!  I fell in love not only with the house but with the property as well.  A girl could retire there - and when I say 'a girl' I mean THIS GIRL!

Yes the house was perfectly round!  It had be remodeled a few years ago so the inside was very modern but simple.  AND best part there was nothing for the girls to get into trouble with.  Oh they ran around and around, built forts, played in the hot tub - did I mention there was a hot tub with this view and outdoor speakers so we could rock out the bay while swimming and soaking!

The property had stairs right down to a rocky beach.  When the tide was out we could explore the sea life in the rocks.  Dylan loved collecting drift wood and building beach shelters and Asa loved sticking her fingers in the water.

I kept waiting for a rainy day for us to hunker down in the house and watch a movie or do art but nope it was beautiful our whole trip!  A little 'burr' to quote Asa at times but the sun was out the entire time.

The girls LOVED the hot tub - morning, noon, and night!  Asa and Dylan were able to practice their swimming skills!

There were beautiful Madrona trees through out the property which just lit up when the sun hit them!  Oh and the sunrises and sets were amazing!  Luckily we got to watch them everyday as the weather was spectacular!

Here's Asa all bundled up as we're heading out to explore the island.

Here's a hot tubing adventure right after breakfast!  There was an island airport just down the road from the property so we were able to watch the planes come in and head out.  Asa loved it!

Exploring the sea life on the rocks below the property.  Here's a sneak peak of a photo session with the girls.

The only bummer about going out to the islands is the ferry lines!  You have to get there a long time before the boat is scheduled to leave but here we are making the best of it.  The only part you don't see is me crying as we had to leave the beautiful round house!  It was a great relaxing trip for sure!
