Asa - Three Weeks In

Can't believe three weeks has passed already!  It's been a whirlwind of events over here for sure.  Christmas has come and gone.  G-ma's and G-pa's, Uncle, Aunties, and cousin Jackson visiting along with several friends coming to meet miss Asa.  Then Uncle Ben falls 12 feet off a ladder and ends up ICU for a few days - he's okay now and recovering at home with 4 broken ribs and a broken wrist, thank goodness that's all, he was very lucky!  So now we are catching our breathe again and back to adjusting with our new addition who, believe it or not, just had her 2 1/2 week check up!  Asa has gained a whole pound since her last doctor visit weighing in at 8lbs 51/2 ounces (54%) and measuring 21inches (89%).

Christmas Was A Blur This Year

Wow Christmas came and went really fast this year - guess that's what happens when you have a baby two weeks before the big day!  It was a hoot and so great to have a new little bundle of joy to share.  Dylan is in love with her baby sister even said to her "Asa you picked the right family" - very sweet.

This year we weren't only bless with Miss Asa but Auntie Beans, G-ma & G-pa Montana, Uncle Ben, Auntie Liz, and Jackson on Christmas day.  There was wrapping paper and bows everywhere.  We got it all cleaned up just in time for G-ma Melvene and G-pa Rick to come knocking the next day.

'Tis The Night Before Christmas.... And Who Should Arrive?

I know one little girl that is all whooped up about the night before Christmas!  This year we had a VERY special visitor come a knocking - apparently sometimes when little girls become big sisters just before Christmas this special someone will come to you to visit your new baby sister and make sure that you are being a very good big sister.  We just happen to mention to Dylan that someone was coming to visit her but didn't say who when what do our ears start to hear but tiny bells a ringing and a big 'Ho, Ho, Ho'.

So off to the door we do go...

and who comes walking in but Santa - Whooooaaaaa!

Here is one starry eyed little girl.  For once Dylan was speechless.

Santa is checking his list for Dylan's name - now which column should Santa check - naughty or nice?

Worried D... but wait "Santa meet my baby sister" - distraction, yeh, that's the trick.

"See Santa, I will hug her, pet her, squeeze her and call her George"

Thanks for the visit Santa - "That was the best Mom, Santa came to our house, I can't believe it!" - you sure made one little, I mean big girl's night!

Asa's Birth Pictures

Oh our beautiful little bean!  Here's some shots right after she was born with what we called "the clean up crew".

Here is Asa and me meeting for the first time.  She instantly stopped crying and just stared at me.  It's pretty crazy feeling to have this little thing in your stomach for 9 months and then be holding it in your arms!  Pretty amazing.

Here she is getting weighted in.  7lbs 10 oz. 19 inches long.

Not happy!

All better!  All wrapped up tight and sucking her fingers - happy once again.

Sound asleep.  What a beautiful little bean sprout!

Here's Asa during her hearing test the next day.  They changed the testing a bit so she didn't get the cool head phones that her sister had during her test (she looked like a DJ).

A proud Pappa.  I also think it's sinking in that he's really out numbered now.

And a super proud sister.  Auntie Beans brought Dylan to the hospital after Preschool.  She knew she was coming to meet 'the crazy baby' but she didn't know the sex until she arrived.  She was sooo happy to find out that it was a baby sister.

So excited and soooo proud!  Baby Asa brought Dylan a Ballerina doll, which D thought was super cool!

And Auntie Beans, awesome Auntie Beans!  What would we ever do with out you!  Thank you sooo much for taking care of D and Maggie while we were at the hospital.  And for all your help since we've been home!  You are the best little sister a girl could have!

Sweet Baby Asa.  We are so excited you choose our family to be apart of!  It's funny when you have one child you can't possibly think that you'd ever have enough love for another but then you meet for the first time and it's love at first sight.  Your heart just opens that much more.  We love you little Bean!
