Baby Signing Times

So the other day Dylan and I are at the park playing. We met a little boy and his mom, who were very nice. The kids started playing and I noticed the little boy was signing to his mom, so I asked how many signs does he know? She said over 100! I was amazed. She said they've been watching some videos from the library called Baby Signing Times. So you know where our next stop was! I've been fascinated with sign language for quite some time now. We've taught Dylan some basic signs which she caught onto quickly and it's made communication much easier. So when this mom mentioned these videos I was very curious. I found a couple at the library and we started watching away. They are amazing! Not only has Dylan learned a bunch of new signs but so have Matt, Jill, and Myself! Jill and I learned over 26 signs in just one sitting. So now it's a signing frenzy over here at camp Clark - we're all throwing down signs to one another. I'm feeling a sign off coming on!!!!

Dylan knows the opening song by signs now from Baby Signing Times. This morning she woke up and her first words were baby as she was signing Baby running to the kitchen towards the computer. Very cute! I highly recommend the videos, they are a little corny but hey if you can learn 26 signs in one sitting corny works!

Here's Dylan signing Baby as she watches the opening of Baby Signing Times.

Here's Dylan signing Time.

And here she's signing Friend.

Auntie Beans joined in on the fun. She was amazed at how much she laughed and learned in just one sitting!

A serious learning moment.

Here's Dylan signing Food and I believe Jill is signing New.

Here's a video of Jill and Dylan signing the opening song from Baby Signing Times.

A Look Into The Teenage Years.

Dylan's new obsession is cellphones. You pretty much have to check yours in at the door, as it's hers until you leave (even then it's questionable that you'll get it back).

So the other day she's babbling on her little play cell phone - just chatting away to someone. It was a pretty lengthy conversation. At one point she walks by me gabbing away, looks at me and signs 'food' as she heads into the kitchen. I think my mouth fell open as she didn't even miss a beat. I felt as though I had a window of the teenage years.

Hello Kitty And More Food Please....

Our friend Kim gave D some really fun squeaky Hello Kitty shoes. Dylan wasn't too sure at first why her feet were making funny sounds but then she got the hang of it. Here's a funny video of her running around the house squeaking away, saying 'utto' as she loses a shoe, and then signing for more food. Awe, the joys of squeaky shoes.

Dad's Music Video - More, More, More

So I know I already posted how Dylan loves to watch her Dad's music video he shot for a band called the Beads. But now the funny thing is every time we passed by my computer Dylan points and moves her arms up and down - it's one of those moments that only a mom knows what her kids wants, and in this case it means - "Mom can I watch Dad's video?". So I play it for her, she gets really excited when it starts up - arms moving up and down really fast. She knows all the parts now, like when Maggie comes on - she points, then she starts to wave in the scene just before the one with the little girl waving, and right before it ends Dylan's already signing for more. It's really funny to watch her. She loves it. Finally I had to tell her 'all done, no more' which she signed back 'all done'. When Matt came home from work I told him to watch Dylan watch the video - just so he could see how much she loves it. And of course when it ended instead of signing 'more' she shook her hands meaning 'all done, no more' - which I had to laugh about, at least she's a fast learner!

Flashing Those Pearly Whites

We have further development on the teeth department. We're up to 6 front teeth - 2 bottom & 4 top. A few weeks ago D got two top premolars - sorry love. And today I noticed two more teeth coming in on the bottom front.

A few weeks back we got D her first toothbrush. And to our surprise she actually gets really excited to brush her teeth - she even signs to us that she wants to brush, which consists of her tapping her front teeth.

After giving the sign I ask "Dylan wanna brush your teeth?" and she comes running.

Soooo excited to brush...

Now Dylan's all curious about teeth, even Maggie's.... poor pups!
