Dylan's Rainbow Carrots

Another year of Dylan's glorious rainbow carrots!  And please notice how nicely they have been styled as I was told "Mom you be the photo girl and I'll do what you do and make them look really good."

It's Spring

Time to get those rainbow carrots in the ground!  For Dylan's birthday she got several packets of garden seeds - which she loved.  They were sitting on the counter for us to plant but since this Momma has so much free time these days - NOT - they sat for a few extra days.  A few extra days long enough for little monkey garden girl to get her hands on them.  I came home from work one night and just happened to look over in the corner of the garden to see a bunch of paper - well it was empty seed packets.  Dylan had took it upon herself to start her garden.  Although she chose to do a lovely variety mix she did make holes and mound up the dirt just like we showed her.  It will be a great surprise this year to see what will pop up in that corner!

Rainbow Carrots

Harvest time at Camp Clark. Yes, the other day Dylan pulled up all her rainbow carrots that she has patiently waited for. She was quite amazed how big they were. Her comment "Oh wow! This is sooooo wonderful."

She wanted a picture of her rainbow carrots and purple toes.  Nice work Dylan!!!!

Our Indoor Garden

Dylan and I started a lovely little indoor garden.  She loved watching the plants grow - every morning at breakfast we'd check out and new happenings and she'd get soooo excited when there was a little movement/growth to report.  We grew sunflowers, squash, & beans - all of which are now outside in the 'big garden'.  Someone's got quite a green thumb, although don't tell her as she will take you literally.

Gardening Tips By Dylan

The other day I was in the kitchen making lunch and Dylan was playing in the garden. I came out the back door and called for her, as I didn't see her. She came around the corner and said "hey mom, I'm picking up Maggie's poop just like you". Yup, sure enough she had her new shovel and a bucket full of poop. Oh so proud. Here she is showing me how it's done.

Little Gardener

The moment we got back from Montana - didn't even make it into the house and Dylan was announcing that she needed to do some gardening! She picked up a shovel and quickly started digging a hole. It was very funny that she decided it was time, at that very moment to do some gardening - it wasn't like we were even talking about it - guess she just felt Spring in the air. So the next day I was off to work and apparently D got up, got dressed right away and headed out the door to mow the lawn. Here's a picture Matt sent me - cracked me up!

Berry Girl

Dylan loves to explore the garden, digging in the dirt, picking up worms, scaring the birds, and chowing down on green tomatoes and broccoli. Here she is in all her messy glory.

The Day The Grass All Went Away

Early spring we took on a big garden project - a new lawn! In between dirt piles a little someone insisted on getting a few rides in. Let's just say Pappa Matt was the first asleep that night (even beat Maggie)!

Backyard Playtime

This is how Dylan thinks you smell the flowers by blowing in and out of your month.

Getting ready for a little lounge time!

Brunch With Alder

A few weeks back we had some friends over for brunch. Alder and Dylan are just a few month apart. They always have fun when getting together. We had a good visit with Traci and Paul while the kiddos played and played and played. It was a beautiful spring day so we got some garden time in. Thanks for the pictures Traci!

The kiddos had a great time rolling all of Maggies tennis balls down the back walkway - they thought it was really funny and loved chasing after them.

Dylan checking out Alder's highchair. I think it passed inspection.
