Breakfast Anyone?

Our big girl has taken to feeding herself. You wouldn't believe it from these pictures but she actually does a pretty darn good job at it. Oatmeal anyone?

Dinner At Nan's

With Matt gone all weekend bike racing we took up the invitation to go to Nan's for dinner - anyone would be stupid to pass up such a fabulous offer. It was, of course, an amazingly delicious dinner (duh!). Dylan had her first corn on the cob which she devoured and signed for more before she was even done with the first one.

And to top the evening off Anne, I mean Nan, served ice cream for dessert, which Dylan dug into with two spoons and a big ol' smile. The girl loves her ice cream!

While we were at Nan's, she reminded me of a very funny story. A few weeks back we were over for a visit. Dylan had a really bad blow out in her diaper so Nan gave her a bath. We let her run around nakie for a few minutes while getting her change of clothes ready. Dylan was standing on Nan's new carpet, which she had just got done telling us how it was pee-free, when we looked over to see a yellow stream coming from Dylan's mid-drift. I panicked and grabbed for the first thing I could find to catch the pee, which happened to be a plastic measuring cup. As the cup filled up Nan looked at me and said "uh, I use that for baking" - and we both laughed until tears rolled down our faces.

After a quick clean up of Nan's Dylan trashed house, we packed up the car and headed home. It was pretty quiet from the back seat - I think someone might have had ice cream belly.

We got home, had a quick "nana" and called it a night.

Thanks Nan for a fun evening and yet another fabulously great meal. We love you. (okay now quit crying!).

No More Stinkin' Baby Food....

"Uh, I want what you're having, please." says lil d (as she's noticing our plates look different than hers). So we gave it to her and she ate every last bite and wanted more!

Peas, Salmon, Beans, Risotto, Mango, & Avocado (yes, it's her new favorite) all arrange very pretty on her plate, just like she likes it (I have to practice my food styling skills on someone).

"Hummmm... think I'll give this pink stuff a try."

"This is some tasty viddles! Thanks mom."

Bend, Bikes, The Freeman's, & A Bunch of Filipino Aunties

So here's a funny story for our great blog fans. This past weekend we went to Bend, OR for a big cyclecross bike race and to visit our cousins Elissa, Trip, Bridger, & Bryn. It was lots of fun - until Maggie ate 3 pounds of puppy chow but that's another story. Dylan had a great time playing with Bryn and their little wiener puppy dog Lucy. AND loved watching all the muddy bike riders.

Dylan and Lucy dog.

The family all snug in the Eurovan. Have I mentioned how much we LOVE our Eurovan?

Bike races in Bend. Picture compliments of Troy.

Dylan watching the riders go by. She was very into it.

So Friday night we left after work. Since we got such a late start we figured we'd drive 'til we got tired and then find a hotel to stay at. We got a couple of hours under our belt before stopping at a little town for some dinner. The only places that seemed open were a taco stand or a Filipino restaurant - we went for warmth and went into the restaurant. As we sat there we noticed Dylan smiling and giggling at a table of women - and yes, they were all smiling, waving, cooing, and laughing back. It didn't take long to strike up a conversation with them all. Turns out it was a family run business and all these women were aunties, daughters, grand daughters, sisters, and even their 92 year old mom! Next thing we knew Dylan was being passed around the bunch - just loving all her new friends - AND 2 hours later we were back on the road! Only regret was not getting a group photo. Here's a couple of family shots Matt took on his i-phone.

A Bowl of Dal

The other day Dylan and I met Matt for lunch. We went to a favorite little spot in Fremont - Silence Hearts Nest. Dylan was munching on a rice cracker while we ate our lunch. She quickly caught on that we were eating something different than she was and started eyeing Matt's bowl of Dal soup. Matt was like 'uh, what should we do?" so I said "hum, give her a bite". So he did and then another and another and another. Pretty soon Dylan had eaten 1/2 a bowl - she loved it!

She's really getting into this eating thing. We've given her beans, coconut rice, noodles, peas, quesadilla, green beans, pancakes, oatmeal, yams, even salmon. Tonight I'm making risotto, we'll see how that goes over. So far she's loved everything!

Breakfast With Dad

This morning's first bowl of blueberries turned into more of an art project than breakfast. We think some got into Dylan's belly but as you can see a whole lot ended up on her face. The lovely meal ended in a bath.

Happy 6 Months of Life Dylan!

Today is Lil d's 6th month b-day. She's showing off all kinds of tricks these days - she can roll over (several times in a row even), just about sitting up on her own, eating all kinds of foods, cracking up a whole grocery store of people, and can hold a whole conversation with you (of coarse you haven't a clue as to what's she's saying but I not so sure she knows that). She loves being outside, discovering new things, listening to music, her dog maggie, sucking her toes, and laughing. Boy, does she love to laugh - she cracks us up everyday!!!! Thanks for being you d - happy 6 months of life little one!!!!

For a little 6th month celebration we started our day off with a bowl of puree peas - yum! Then we took a long walk stopping by the grocery store and library, where Dylan proceeded in cracking people up - she was grinning from ear to ear for anyone who crossed her path. Of course I can't see a thing as we just moved up to a big girl stroller where she now faces outward. I just see people stopping in their tracks and come over to smile back at D. It's so great to see Dylan bring such smiles to people's faces - warms my heart.

On our way home Dylan passed out in her stroller, drool running down her check - guess it's exhausting being such a little clown. When we got home we played for a while until Matt came home. Then we all went down to the little neighborhood park to show dad how Dylan can swing like a big girl. Of course dad brought his camera and got some great shots!

When we got home it was bath, bottle, and bed - it couldn't come soon enough as Lil' d was exhausted from a big day!

We love you D!
