39 Weeks

All is well on the belly front. Our little biscuit continues to grow and kick inside Christine's belly. To ensure we wouldn't forget just how she looked while we were waiting, we took a few belly shots to share with you all. Christine looks amazing, doesn't she!?

The Ever Growing Belly

Just when you think your belly can't get any bigger, it does. It's really crazy to watch you body changing. And what's really weird is when the little one moves - it's soooo alien like.

The other night Matt and I were at a movie. I felt the little one's leg poking my belly so I put my hand on it - it kind of startled us both as she moved away and so did I. It was one of those moments you really realize "holy cow, there is something alive in my belly!".

Here's a great shot of a parking lot in Spokane. I loved the sign and had to get a picture with it. There's also a stork parking spot at Metropolitan Market in Seattle - now I only shop there so that I can fully milk use of the spot. Funny how they don't have spots for new moms, cause I have a feeling that's when you really need the extra help.

Out in front of Huckleberry's in Spokane.

I took this picture for Jill as she thought I couldn't drive anymore - see Jill my belly still fits behind the wheel (not much longer though).

Me and the first pregnant male, oh wait that's funny Uncle Ben with a basketball up his jacket. He's bigger - right?

Here's some great tricks I've learned to do with my new ever growing belly. And now everyone is starting to get into it. As a disclaimer, those are not all my drinks - everyone has started using my belly as a resting spot. Great, thanks! Okay it's pretty funny.

At a Ratcity Roller Girls spout. Matt needed a drink rest.

Showing off to the girls at dinner.

Patti and I should take this trick on the road.

Nesting

Awe the fun days leading up to a new house guest. Only this house guest is here for good. It's a weird feeling getting your house, their room, your life ready for someone you know is going to change your life but you haven't a clue what it's going to look like. Oh people tell you but you don't get it until you are in it. You are preparing but you don't get how, you can only guess.

One thing no one warned me of was the 'nesting phase'. Oh my poor husband, as I have it and I have it good. Our poor house is turned upside down! Nesting is the weirdest urge. It's hard to explain, but for me I have a long list of projects that HAVE to get done and NOW. You know like that crack in the floor, under the rug, in the front corner of the living room - the one that no one will ever in a million years see but you know it's there and it has to get fixed and fixed now 'cause it's driving you crazy and if it doesn't get fixed you will start to cry 'cause you can't stand the thought of it not getting fixed. I bet you get a little bit of the feeling just reading the last sentence. I basically quite working late December and started running a small general contracting business. And I am good at it. At one point I had 5 contractors all lined up for one day, I tweaked my back so I was sitting on a chair in the front room with an ice pack giving each directions - furnace guy - downstairs, sheet-rocker - hallway, floor guys - bedrooms... And I kept them all on schedule by making sure they were well fed. Oh that is another thing - I've started cooking like a mad woman. The freezer is packed with all kinds of frozen meals - even though Jill, my sister, is coming to take care of us - you never know, we might starve. Every night Matt comes home from work and I have a meal ready. Okay not just a meal but enough food to feed a small village. And it's a different country every night. Of course he doesn't mind, and I am eating for two after all.... hope all this good cooking makes up for all my nesting craziness! I do have to say that the house is looking GREAT and Matt is working hard. He comes home every night from working and shooting puts on his tool belt and starts checking things off the list. Poor guy is exhausted.

Our Living room - only a path to the front door.

So tired and no place to nap - oh wait this looks like a comfy pile to rest on.

Poor Maggie - well at least she looks like she's found a good spot for a snooze.

Baby's room is coming along swell. Cribs all together, thanks to Uncle Ben for giving a hand. The curtains are from my trip to India years ago - they are very special.

Maggie and I sorting through all the baby clothes. Getting all ready. Crazy to think someone so small is creating so much ruckus around here!

34.5 Weeks In

On Monday we had our big ultrasound to see how things were progressing. It is always fascinating seeing into the womb and hearing the heartbeat. At this ultrasound, we were given a rare glimpse of our hairy little child. Yes, she's got long hair and no it is not on her back, I think. You could see her hair flowing in the amniotic fluid. It was crazy. The funny thing is when Christine was born, she had loads of long black hair. We're wondering if we'll need to nick name our child "Joey" after Joey Ramone or will it be "Fabio"? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Otherwise, everything is good to go. No problems, heart beat is good, she seems to be practicing her breathing and she's gaining weight just fine. No word on how big her head really is. Christine is hoping she doesn't have a big head like her fathers.
